This is Who We Are - The Pit by Kristine Anderson
We weren't looking for office space when a beautiful bright space became available in the perfect location for us. One problem was that it only had one internal segregated room the rest of the space was open concept. When people came to see this space early in the early days they would say to Kristine, “Well, that will be your office”. But that is not who we are.
We made that internal room into a beautiful and welcoming meeting room, and we all work together in the open area affectionately referred to as, “The Pit”. If only one person could have their own office, then no one would have their own office. We use the meeting room and our kitchen to do calls with clients and court but otherwise we all work together in the same space in a respectful and productive way.
Don't get me wrong, as we grow, we will relocate at some point and get a much larger office that will have individual offices but, for now, The Pit brings us all together to share ideas and to support each other. Laughter is regular and loud. It is not uncommon for a problem being discussed turning into an impromptu brainstorming session. It works for us. It brings us closer together in a non hierarchical way. This is what Fern Law is about.
